Introduction to the Programme

 

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The core mission of the programme is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students; currently approx. 100 sending partners are engaged in the programme.

The Programme is managed by Tempus Public Foundation.

Available Scholarship Types

 

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available for bachelor, master, one-tier master, doctoral and non-degree programmes (preparatory and specialisation courses). Both full time and part time study modes are available in case of bachelor, master, one-tier master and doctoral studies.

 


Provisions Covered by the Scholarship

 

  • Tuition-free education: exemption from the payment of tuition fee
  • Monthly stipend: to contribute to the costs of living
  • Accommodation contribution to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period.
  • Medical insurance: health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act No. 80 of 1997, national health insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance.

Students at Risk Subprogramme
For students fleeing the war in Ukraine

 

The Students at Risk Subprogramme is an addition to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme and is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation. Its goal is to provide assistance to Ukranian students and doctoral candidates whose studies or research are interrupted because of war, catastrophe, prosecution etc. For students fleeing the war in Ukraine, the subprogramme provides scholarships for studies in Hungarian higher education institutions.


The present application is open for Ukrainian citizens who wish to pursue higher education studies in a Hungarian higher education institution. The opportunity is also open for those who already pursued higher education studies before and those who only have a secondary school graduation certificate (and who will have obtained a secondary school graduation certificate by the time of the enrolment).
